My experience with the Mounjaro pen from SoLean: delivery, storage, and use
Hello everyone, Johannes here! After telling you about the arrival of my first delivery in my last post, I want to talk today about a crucial moment: the first time using the pen. Honestly, I was a bit apprehensive—after all, it’s not something you do every day. But I can tell you right now: it was much easier than I thought it would be. I’ll take you through it step by step and share my experience.
The first step: disinfect your hands
Before starting, I first washed and disinfected my hands thoroughly. After all, safety comes first. I wanted to do everything right so I would feel comfortable and secure during the process.
After that, I pulled the protective cap off the pen. At the top end of the pen, you’ll find a small threaded connector and a red dot—this is where the needle is attached.

After I took the pen out of the packaging, I removed the protective cap. On the pen, there is a small threaded connector with a red dot where the needle is attached. The needle simply screws on—it’s super quick. It was important that I kept the transparent outer needle cap, as I needed it later to remove the needle safely.
Next step: remove air bubbles
Once the needle was attached, I held the pen upright and tapped it lightly with my index finger to remove any potential air bubbles. At that moment, I felt a bit like a nurse—it was kind of amusing and helped take away the nervousness.
Setting the dosage: simple and safe
The next step was setting the dose. I turned the dosage dial until the number "1" appeared in the window. The system clicks into place automatically, which gave me the feeling that I couldn't do anything wrong. This mechanism really reassured me because it is so intuitive.
The first injection: completely painless
For the injection, there are three recommended sites: the abdomen (at least 5 cm away from the belly button), the front of the thigh, or the outer upper arm. My husband ended up giving me the injection in my upper arm because that’s where I felt most comfortable.
I was surprised by how little I felt—in fact, it didn’t hurt at all. That completely calmed me down, because I had been a bit afraid of that beforehand.
My conclusion: a big step on my journey
After the first application was done, I felt really relieved. Everything went smoothly, and I realized how safe and well-thought-out the pen is. For me, it was an important moment because it showed me that I have control over my journey and can master this challenge.
